India re-elected to EcoSoc

India has won its re-election to the UN's principal organ Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) for another three-year term.

EcoSoc is one of the six main UN organs which were established by the UN Charter. It is the principal body for coordination, policy review, policy dialogue and recommendations on economic, social and environmental issues, as well as for implementation of the internationally agreed development goals. It has a total of 54 members. The Council's 54 members are elected by the General Assembly for overlapping three-year terms.
