Al Jazeera's broadcast in India likely to stop

The Qatar government’s state-funded broadcaster Al Jazeera may have to stop broadcast in India as the Home Ministry has withdrawn the security clearance given to it. Al Jazeera has reportedly filed a petition for reviewing this decision. A documentary on the situation in Jammu and Kashmir telecast by the channel is believed to have upset the central security establishment. The decision on cancellation of the broadcasting licence will be taken by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

The channel has run into controversy with the Indian government before: In 2015, they had published an incorrect map of Jammu and Kashmir. Foreign channels need a security clearance from the home ministry and a broadcasting clearance from the information and broadcasting ministry.
