India wins four bronze medals in Wushu after Rahi Sarnobat's Gold

India won a total of five medals on Day 4 – a gold and four bronze. Rahi Sarnobat won gold in the morning in shooting while the four bronze medals came in Wushu. All the four Indian wushu players, Naorem Roshibini Devi, Santosh Kumar, Surya Bhanu Partap Singh and Narender Grewal, lost their semifinal bouts to settle for bronze medals but ensured that the country produced its best-ever performance in the Asian Games. Indian hockey men team broke their 86-year old record to register their biggest International win, defeating Hong Kong 26-0. It was a good day for tennis players as well as Rohan Bopanna-Divij Sharan in men’s doubles and Ankita Raina in women’s singles assured India of two medals. Here are the highlights. In the 2006 and 2010 Asian Games, India had won one (bronze) and two (one silver, one bronze) medals respectively.

Chinese Kung Fu (Martial Arts or as popularly referred to as Gongfu or Wushu) is a series of fighting styles which has developed over a long historical period in China. Nowadays, it is regarded as a traditional sport gaining more and more popularity and even stands as a representative for Chinese culture. Wushu is international sport governed through International Wushu Federation (IWUF). It is made up of two disciplines, namely Taoulu (forms) and Sanda (sparring). Sanda comprises combative aspect of art-form, while Taoulu involves demonstration of the moves,acrobatic routines and techniques that are implemented in Sanda.
