Union Government launches its first National Biopharma Mission

To accelerate bio-pharmaceutical development, the Union Ministry of Science & Technology has launched National Biopharma Mission in India. This mission includes Innovate in India (i3) program to promote entrepreneurship and indigenous manufacturing in the sector.
i3 is a program of the Government of India in collaboration with World Bank, which is committed to make India a hub for design and development of modern, economical and efficacious bio-pharmaceutical products and solutions.
The program has an investment of $250 million with $125 million as a loan from World Bank. The mission will be executed by Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC).
